Here is the story. Dan lost his job the first part of May. So he was hunting for a job. He wanted to stay in Pa. but he also applied for jobs in NC. He got a job in NC. He starts Monday. He still has applications floating out there for Pa. Dan lived in NC before and it is a nice place for The Ughster and I to visit. He will be about 30 miles from Myrtle Beach.
So things right now for me are kinda sorta bittersweet.
Dear God in Heaven, I pledge my allegiance to You,. I give You my life, my work, and my heart. In turn, give me the grace to obey Your every direction to the fullest possible extent. Amen

HO HUM
It has been a ho hum time in my life. It seems like I have been spending my days waiting. Waiting for good news. I don't want to go into all the particulars. It is not my business, it is a family members. But that has been what I have been doing waiting, praying and then waiting some more.
My mom is doing well. Gene and I are doing okay. Gabby and Noah are still the delight of my life.
My flowers are all in bloom and it is calming sitting, and just looking at them. Gabby loves the little butterflies that sometimes visit them. You should hear her say butterfly. It sounds something like Bafly.
Oh well, I'll just ho hum through another day. Hoping for good news. I hate waiting!
Dear God in Heaven, I pledge my allegiance to You,. I give You my life, my work, and my heart. In turn, give me the grace to obey Your every direction to the fullest possible extent. Amen

Memorial Day Weekend
Let's remember our military men and women who gave all. Thank God for men and women such as these.
Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May (May 25 in 2009). Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates U.S. men and women who died while in the military service. First enacted to honor Union soldiers of the American Civil War (it is celebrated near the day of reunification after the civil war), it was expanded after World War I to include American casualties of any war or military actio Memorial Day Order
I. The 30th day of May, 1868,is designated for the purpose of strewing with flowers, or otherwise decorating the graves of comrades who died in defense of their country during the late rebellion, and whose bodies now lie in almost every city, village and hamlet churchyard in the land. In this observance no form or ceremony is prescribed, but Posts and comrades will, in their own way arrange such fitting services and testimonials of respect as circumstances may permit.

Wednesday's hero

25 years old from Paterson, New Jersey
3rd Battalion, 66th Armor Regiment, 172nd Infantry Brigade
May 11, 2009

On Mother’s Day, Eugenia Gardos made a tabletop shrine to her recently deceased mother — surrounding her photograph with silk roses, a small white rosary cross, two votive candles and a prayer card of Senor de los Milagros, the patron saint of Peru.
The next day, May 11, she added her son's picture to the shrine for the dead.
Sgt. Gardos was killed along with five fellow servicemen; Army Spc. Jacob D. Barton, Army Maj. Matthew P. Houseal, Navy Cmdr. Charles K. Springle and Army Pfc. Michael E. Yates Jr. in the attack on Camp Liberty.
"The first time he left for Iraq, when they would read the lists of the dead on the news, we used to hold our breath, praying he wasn't on it," his mother said. "I don't understand how he could have died this way. I just don't understand it."
Sgt. Galdos had emigrated with his family from Mollendo, Peru, as a child and had been a U.S. citizen since high school. His mother, two older brothers and older sister recalled how he used to hand out candy to children in Iraq the same way he always did in Paterson — never making a trip to the corner bodega without a group of neighborhood children tailing behind, knowing he would buy them candy or a soda.
"We were all here at home," Carlos Bueno, Sgt. Galdos's father, said. "I was getting ready to go to bed when I heard screaming downstairs. I ran downstairs and everyone had thrown themselves to the floor, thrashing around, screaming."
Bueno said he does not feel bitterness toward the man accused in the shootings, whom he described as "mentally ill."
"We want people to know we're proud of our son's Army, but if my son had died in war we would be able to handle that," he said. "But not to die in this manner."

Prayers for conversion for our president to a pro-life agenda
Click the title and visit Fr. Corapi's website
The recent travesty involving the University of Notre Dame’s invitation to the President of the United States to give the commencement address and receive an honorary doctor of laws degree is the antithesis of Catholic and Christian witness to the truth. A lawyer who vigorously, publicly, and consistently support an anti-life and anti-family litany of evils will now receive an honorary doctor of laws degree from what is arguably the most prestigious Catholic University in America.
A picture is worth a thousand words. Indeed, what thousand words will be conveyed by the picture(s) of Mr. Obama receiving his honorary doctorate and sending off the graduating class at Notre Dame University?
This will be a dark day indeed for the University of Notre Dame and the Catholic Church that permitted it to happen. In the end, the bishops have the right and the duty to decide if the University of Notre Dame can any longer claim “Catholic” credentials.
Meanwhile, the obligation to bear witness to the truth weighs more heavily than ever on each one of us. We have rapidly entered into a new era of persecution of the Church and the truth that she professes and teaches, reminding us again,
"The disciple of Christ must not only keep faith and live on it, but also profess it, confidently bear witness to it, and spread it: All however must be prepared to confess Christ before men and to follow him along the way of the Cross, amidst the persecutions which the Church never lacks.” (Lumen gentius 42; Dignitatis Humanae 14).
Service of and witness to the faith are necessary for salvation: “So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven; but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven” (Mt 10:32-33).
God Bless You,
Fr. John Corapi

Everyday Hero

Spc. Robert Hamilton, from Corpus Christi, Texas, Company C, 2nd Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, prepares to bandage the thumb of an Iraqi boy in Ula Market in Sadr City, April 19. The boy cut his thumb while preparing meat at a local butcher shop.

Howdy
Mother's day turned out to be nice. I spent the day with my mom. They had a tea at the home for the moms. They also had a variety of music. We went to it for awhile.
When I arrived at Rolling Meadows, my brother, his wife and son also just got there. We walked into my mom's room at the same time. Her eyes lit up. We handed her gifts and cards. She opened the cards and I helped her read them. She was happy, so that made me happy.
The weather has been dry and sunny. That is how it goes. Ugh's vacation is done so the weather clears up.
I still enjoyed having him home. It brought back memories of when he was retired. We did a lot of running around and having fun. Darn high price of health insurance and rotten stock market. Someday our day will come. Ugh turns 63 in October...so if he hangs on until 65 and medicare...he will try to retire again. He retired the first time at 55. I told him it was not going to work, but you could not tell him anything. He had to see for himself. He got a 7 year vacation. He has about 2 1/2 years to go to try and retire...again!
Dear God in Heaven, I pledge my allegiance to You,. I give You my life, my work, and my heart. In turn, give me the grace to obey Your every direction to the fullest possible extent. Amen
